OK LBS has failed to locate some chainring bolts ???crux

Where to find some for a five arm single chainring setup for ss or track use.
any place that sells bmx bikes, try walmart, got grips there nmclub

...even though mine never seem to have 6mm chainring nut 'n bolt sets for single ring setups, they know how to order them.

If you're looking for an online source, all the catalog sites list them (Hammerheadbikes, aebike, bikeusa, etc.) as does webcyclery.

any good shop should have heaps of them lying around, single front chainrings are common on bmx, ss, even on some dh and fr bikes, hell, you can even get them from most der. hangers. it's 2004, spare parts should be there or able to be ordered in within a few days. shops that give pathetic excuses for not having common parts are ruining the retail cycling industry and driving away the very customers they should be trying to attract. try a decent shop. cop that.
