chain noise at chainrings(4 posts)

chain noise at chainringsPUR-1138

I have a Kona Bear with RF cranks and chainrings. Stock Shimano chain.
LX FD.
The problem is that it seems to make a lot of noise. The deraileur isn't rubbing. The BB is tight and smooth as glass. It happens on all 3 rings. It's almost like I'm hearing each individual link hitting the bottom of each tooth.
Happens only under pedal pressure. If I'm coasting and just idly spinning, there's no noise. Only when exerting force on the pedals.
Has done this since new. Got maybe 900 miles on it and keep it well lubed and adjusted. Checked stretch and it hasn't worn that I can detect.
This is my first 9 speed. Do they just do that? My old 7 speed Yokota is whisper quiet.
Doesn't really effect anything I guess. Just bugs me.
