So who has the best overall chainrings?ttown

Looking for some new chainrings and in your expert opinions which do you think are the best for an all-mountain experience. Going to get 24-34-44 and am looking for ultimate shifting.

Raceface. They're all good. Keep the dt properly aligned, cleaned and lubed. Be in the proper chainring before you have to apply undue pedaling forces. Change things out before they get too warn and they'll all shift as good as the others. I wish there was one really great standout, but after riding friends bikes with the various components there just isn't a noticable difference if things are kept in proper working order.
I prefer....Baja Biker

I prefer BlackSpire for the big and middle rings. They're tough as nails and IMHO shift very, very well. Webcyclery has them, as do others. I chew up granny rings and have recently been using a Truvativ steel granny that is cheap and doing better than others I have tried.

If you have the $ for Ti, try Boone (http://boonerings.com/cr/cr.html). I haven't yet. I don't think they have the ramps/pins that good aluminum rings do, but people still speak highly of them.

See the reviews on this website for more opinions, too. You don't want to suffer with lousy chainrings.....
My faves are the '04 Race Face, but I don't know if you could...Bikeless Rider

I still maintain Shimano rings shift the fastest with the least amount of effort; however, Race Face, among others, shift more deliberately with more tactile feel.

I like Race Face rings a lot because they wear well and I seem to always find them cheap (I just got a big and middle combo for $30 at Jenson). I would have have purchased Shimano, Sugino, Blacksprire, FSA, Truvativ for that value. In other words, I am not a hugely obsessive about which rings I put on my bike because they wear out fairly quickly in my mucky riding.

My .02.
