you know that they are making shabby full suspension bikes. well they have taken the next big leap. i saw today a bike out-fitted with disk breaks up front, you think 8 inch rotors are big these things were bigger than my dinner plates and aboot(canada eh?) a quater inch thick the calipers were like as big as my fists,
cable pull they were. they had to weigh at least 10 pounds. it looks like they used a single speed hub to mount the break on to, it was a floating setup where the disk floats on rails or something of the like. probally real noisy. it sells for $134 in sale now. i would have tried to ride it but i was laughing too hard.

go and check it now its funny to look at.

at my local bike shop they have a record for the heavyest bike ever, a huffy full suspension that weighed 49 pounds.
I actually tried that bike...Robert.

Some kid in my neighborhood has it. I agreed to let him try out my trek if he let me try out his huffy. Im not sure of the name of it but it is made by huffy and the rotor is HUGE! 8-10 inches and about 1/6-1/4 inch thick. I think they may have used surplus motorcycle parts.

The only thing I can say about it is that it looks cool. The bike is a ton of bricks and the brakes dont work despite all the hype. I rode up a local hill on it and went flying down ~25-30mph on pavement. Best workout I ever had BTW. I nearly killed myself coming down. I pulled the lever with all my might. Almost no front stopping power. I had to pull really hard just to get the rear Vs to lock. The rotors had black residue on it and the pads, that seemed like they were rubber, had worn down halfway. Scary to say the least. Seems that huffy is more concerned with retarding motion rather than stopping it.

The funny thing is that he thought these discs were the best thing since sliced bread. I have to admit they were better than the cheap standard issue tiwanesse caliper brakes on other huffys. When he yanked on my brakes not expecting that much force he nearly went OTB.

Conclusion: Brakes are all show no go (or stop). They are heavier than V's dont stop as well, probabaly more expensive and wear quickly. For $140 im not complaining its a scrap metal bargain.
Now THAT is scary.....pic inside.....heff®

18 speeds, freewheel: allows you to pedal backwards without engaging brake (their description, not mine!), rear V brakes for superior stopping power.....42 FREAKING POUNDS!!! YIKES!
At least it looks kinda cool (nm)Swamp Monkey

At least the fork is on in the right direction. It's sad that they coule probably build a simple somewhat reliable bike for the same money but probably wouldn't sell any if they sat on the shelf next to a competitors FULL SUSPENSION, EIGHTEEN SPEED FREEWHEEL, DISC BRAKE, RISER BAR,EXTREME MOUNTAINBIKE WITH MOTO STYLE FENDERS. SIZES: 26 inches, 24 inches.
