Aside from the tubeless technology, are the Crossmax wheels that much better than the Crossride ceramics???

A whole $500 better??

Well they're better wheels that's for sure, they're lighter, stronger, stiffer, supposedly more efficient in loss of energy (according to mavic), but $500 is a lot of money.

I had that debate myself but in my case with crossroc's (i wanted the UST system), i ended up buying the crossroc's, $400 is way too much money to save 250g, that's my opinion though.
Crossride for lightweightsanon

If you're a heavy rider, I've heard the Crossride's flex too much (no personal experience since, as a heavier rider, I'm still saving my pennies for the Crossmaxes).

I live in germany for another 6 months. Me and my buddie went into Regdnsburg to buy now wheels. He was goign to pick up some hugi hubes wheels. I had my eyes on a set of crossmax ust. Well he was also curious. But we wanted to know ihe diffrence betwen the rocks, and maxes. So we did our own torture test. I am 150 lbs, I bought the maxes. My buddie is about 230 lbs, he bought the rocks. Funny thing is his wheels dont even have a hint of a wobble after a full season of riding. So if you really want to save the weight, or want the coolness factor go with the maxes. But if its dosent matter, save the 500 dollars and pick up some somthing else nice for your bike, race face next lp, and a ti, splined bb. They will hold up to the 230 lbs too.

A European mag did a scientific stiffness test of these wheels and found that the Crossmax is lighter, but definitely not stiffer. Mountainbike Magazine has always liked the stiffness of the Crossrocs since they replaced the Crossrides...
