Dec 10, 2001 11:14 AM | | Has anybody used the Hutchinson Jumbo's? I want a good wide tire for SSing, but want better wear life than the Hutchinsons are infamous for. Any thoughts?
Also, has anyone put big tires on a 517 rim? Any experiences with a 2.2 to 2.3? Thanx much. |

As for big tires in general, though, I've used the biggest tires I could squeeze into my frames, both road and mountain, on every kind of wheel for years, and I've never had problems with a tire being "too wide" for any rim. My singlespeed right now is using 700x40 Continentals on an old set of Araya rims that are only about 18mm wide. Works fine. |
