measuring top tube length..(4 posts)

measuring top tube length..Ðiamond Ðave
Dec 10, 2001 11:41 AM
I've noticed a huge difference in the fit of my 19.5" RM Blizzard, and my 20" Voodoo Bakka. I'm thinking of a custom frame, but I'm also looking at some other options... so I'd like to determine the top tube length for both bikes.

Here's what I'm thinking, someone correct me if I'm wrong, or confirm if I'm right:

toptube measurement: measure from the centerline at the top of the head tube .... horizontal to the point where a level line would intersect the center of my seatpost.

Thanks in advance,
Dave in KC

C of seat tube to C of headtube is material TT, What your describing is effective TT lenght.
and to really understand what's up.....Shylock

....you need to know what the seat angles are on your two frames. A slacker seat angle makes for a longer effective top tube

What you care about is effective top tube length. That's what determines fit.

Measure it just like you said.
