hi, i'm after a laidback post for my tracer, 31.6mm, weight is low on the list compared to strenght.

i've read mixed reviews on both the raceface(xy) and easton(ea50), any views?? or any recommendations??

appreciate the input!

The following lists my view of the MOOTs Ti Laid back vs the RF Laid back... Both posts were used on the SAME bike (CAAD4).

MOOTS Ti bought for 65$ Brand new in sealed plastic bag in MTBR.com.
RF bought for 45$ Brand new never used in MTBR.com.

Note - If you see a high quality post in MTBR.com you can usually pick it up for 20 - 30$ less than the asking price.. make a reasonable offer and thank the seller for putting top quality gear on mtbr.com.

Tried a Raceface laidback... very nice post. Never had ANY problems with it and I hammer almost every day... raced (NORBA State events) in CA, FL... trained in MD & VA... Only CON = Post is very stiff which is not a good thing on a CAAD frame... may not be a problem if you ride a softer frame.

Then went to a MOOTS Ti laid back which is also ~ 1" back. I rode it at the last Pedros Fest, 4 FL state championship races and on hard training rides 4-5 times a week... Never had ANY problems. Key comparison is this post gives a much smoother ride. It flexes about 1/2 on medium hits and I can stay seated on small/medium hits that made my teeth rattle on the RF post.

IMHO... The RF is a great post if you want a stiff post.
The MOOTS Ti is a better post if you want a smoother ride.

I'm trying a thudbuster (just picked it up for 55$ on mtbr.com las week). So far I love it... but it does take a while to get used to.
It eats up MUCH more than the Ti post (as expected) but it is ~ 100 grms heavier. I rode 3 times now on a 4 mile trial that I ride almost every day and my times were within 15 seconds of my best times this year.
Don't you mean Thomson or Salsa? (nm)DeRanger

Airborne's Ti seatpost is slightly laid-back. I love mine!
Ti performance for only $60 new.
