| shimano FR80 waterproof mtb boot - any good? | qtip Jan 16, 2002 10:34 AM | | I'm looking for something to keep my feet warmer on cold snowy wet night rides. Does anyone have any experience with this shoe? In a different situation I'd purchase some of the Lake's or Sidi Storms but I'm getting married and buying a house so funds are limited. These shimano's are pretty cheap right now. |

| that's my winter shoe | club Jan 16, 2002 2:30 PM | | Sierra, the place in Wyoming, was blowing them out last year for $29 a pair. I got a pair a size larger than my normal, and have been riding the heck outa them on snow rides all this winter. they're great. I use Powergrips, not spds, so I ground down the lugged soles a tad for easier use, and snowsealed them. I wear them with heavy ragg wool sox, and goretex sox over that if I figure I'm gonna be hike-a-biking thru drifts. I love them, and didn't even know shitmano ever made them. good price, get a pair if you ride in the winter. |
| Yes | yokota_raven Jan 17, 2002 4:00 AM | | Bought mine last year on closeout for like $30. Love 'em to death! Waterproof (w/ duct tape over the cleat area in the insole) and warm! Like you, I couldn't justify the Sidi's even with lust factor. |
