That is wild! what kind of tensioner is that. More pics would also be sweet
Is that a SS or a Nexus hub?Mikey
Jan 17, 2002 9:41 AM
Is that going to be a singlespeed FS, or is that an internally geared Nexus hub? Funky either way!
pretty sure it's a Rohloff, a beauty regardless (nm)someguy1

CANE CREEK REAR SHOCK?cyclejim
Jan 17, 2002 10:49 AM
I guess I was under the impression that the NRS had to use a specific shock just for that bike. I have the stock RockShox XC rear on mine but I don't like it much. Which Cane Creek shock is that??

Thanks
How's the Speedhub working on the NRS?Eric F

Might be an interesting project for next winter. I've heard some darn good reviews, but need to find out more about them.
suggestions for your huburbanman
Jan 18, 2002 7:42 PM
I own a Rohloff hub and have a few suggestions for you. You need a front chain guide of some sort or you won't make it 20 feet on a trail with out it falling off. Also, make sure your chain is long enough when the suspension moves. The tensioner is going to get real gritty and rough after a good bit of riding. Just pour chian lube on the spring and it'll be better than new. If your chain falls off in back I don't have an answer for you there. Still working that out myself. I have a 13T cog, which may be contributing to the chain dropping problems. I have the NEW shorty tensioner, but it makes a shit load of noise and I can't back pedal so I'm not using it.(it runs the upper pulley ON the cog, but so far I haven't been able to make it work right. I need to call Thomas and figure it out.
Mine skips internally quite often, I may have to send it in for an evaluation.
The list above is just things that have gone wrong with my hub or observations, to let you know. e-mail me if you have any questions, I normally only monitor the DH board. snowboardere@yahoo.com

A Quiver of anything is at least 5. You only need two more so get busy. Here's a picture of one that won't cost you hardly anything and help your riding to boot. Fix Gear 28"r.

Heh, I got what my wife allows me have :o)

Actually I have six including my S&M Holmes dirt-jumping BMX, Mongoose old freestyler, and an ancient roadie that I will refurb one of these days...

Just like in a big family, you only keep out pics of the cute kids:)

That "ancient" roadie sounds like a good candidate for a fix gear conversion. You won't regret it and I bet you could build it up tonite with parts on hand.

I love em..
I really think they are the best on the market, period.

have you seen this?

In one of those "I wonder if I can...." moments..

I took a Formula B4 140mm rotor and with a little magic and time got it to fit on the rear of my bike with an Avid Mechanical disc brake

Weighed about 45g less than the stock 165 rotor with zero loss of power noticed...

Have done this mod on a few local bud's bikes too...

needed?, no.. fun?, yes :)
and here...........heff®
Jan 18, 2002 8:22 AM
.....I was thinking about a larger rotor on the front......like the 180mm Julie rotor I have now.

What I REALLY want, though, is those Hope sawblade looking rotors.

Why so many spacers? Then an inverted stem? (nm)p
Jan 17, 2002 8:56 PM
was wondering that myself..........heff®
Jan 18, 2002 8:24 AM
......it'll make it a bit harder to get the front end off the ground.

If it's a question of bar height, put the spacers on top.

heff®
Well, if you must know...Trailburner
Jan 18, 2002 9:13 AM
The reason why I use so many spacers is because I wanted to keep the steerer on the long side. If I would cut the steerer to the shortest length, I would have a hard time selling the fork when it comes the time to get a new one b/c my bike has such a short headtube.

I'm trying differtent placements of the Stem/spacers to see what is most comfortable. I got the bike used from the marketplace and that is the stem/handlebar that it came with. I'd like to get a new stem and handlebar but I just don't have the funds now. The previous owner had it set up as a quasi freeride/downhill bike with a double crown fork, upright stem, and riser bar. I'm trying to turn it more into a cross country trailbike.

When I had the stem lower, I was uncomfortble because my seat was too high in relation to my hands. I was so bent over that I was crunching my gut with each pedal stroke.

If anybody has any suggestions as to a better combination I'd appreciate any comments and I'm always willing to tinker around and try something different. Thanks.
easy enough.heff®
Jan 18, 2002 4:11 PM
Get a stem with some rise to it, like 5 degrees, in the same length, then adjust the spacers to put it at a level you're comfortable with.

Either that, or just flip that stem over. Most are reversible.
