|  Clean well, clean often (plus a simple tool tip) | BlargleSnart Jan 18, 2002 12:10 PM | | Clean your bike really well after every ride. Lube it well too and adjust everything. Not only does it ride better, it looks better and lasts longer.
When putting your chain back on (with a powerlink) or fixing it on the trail, carry an 8" piece of coat hanger wire with an inch on either end bent up towards each other a little. Then stick the ends between links in the chain. This holds your chain together so that you can work on it. I can't remember where I got the tip but it works well.
Also, get some kind of padding for your chainstays so that chainslap doesn't wear away your chainstay and make it weak. |
