| Can anyone recommend a good bike assembler in the L.A. area? | 77x Feb 16, 2002 4:42 PM | | I am considering buying a bike peice by peice but am admittedly less than skilled at installing many of the bike components. Can anyone recommed a good bike builder in the Los Angeles area. If you know the approximate cost, that would be helpful also. Thank You |
| Haven't found one yet but.... | Lance Legweak Feb 16, 2002 6:09 PM | | I have had no luck with bike builders in LA. I ALWAYS wind up having to redo at least part of the job myself. However, if you can wait a week or two I can tell you if "The Bike Builder's" in Whittier is any good. I am trusting them to my new bike. It's a one man shop and I like what I saw. Hardly a new bike for sale in the shop and several hard core riders are always in just chatting with the owner. Looks like the main business is building bikes to order for people that know what they want. I'll keep you posted. |

I can recommend an excellent shop near Agoura Hills but I wouldn't just send anybody there. Sometimes people buy stuff off the internet and expect alot more beyond what they're paying for (advice, deals, etc.) from a shop when assembly time comes. This shop builds the best bikes I've seen and they do it with a ton of TLC. If you are an honest guy and intend to be pleasant to deal with then I'd give you the shop. But since I don't know you at least you know where to begin to look. |
