Possible to replace rubber part of SRAM shifters?SPLIT769

Can I order a new set of the rubber part of the shifters on my SRAM gripshift? If they were half-pipes, can I put on shortys?

I assume you are referring to the grips (not the small grip ends) and yes, you can have your lbs order them for you. I don't think you can put on the shorty covers, however. That said, I have seen shorty upgrade kits to upgrade to halfpipe covers on ebay, so perhaps you can do the opposite.

You can order replacement covers from your LBS. As for length, you have to get the corresponding size. The "tube" attached to the spool is what determines a half-pipe to a shorty. Cutting the cover to a shorty length will only expose the shifting tube on the half-pipe.

"Cutting the cover to a shorty length will only expose the shifting tube on the half-pipe."

...be aware that if they are newer model Srams with the SRS feature, there's a slot & tab type function at the end of the halfpipe that keeps the assembly together. You'd have find a way to lock everything in place, such as an ODI grip collar.

Non-SRS halfpipes can be cut without this problem.
