Feb 18, 2002 4:59 PM | | from the 4900 on up, as far as mountain bikes are concerened. Anything made with Alpha aluminum, SLR aluminum or the new ZR9000 aluminum are made in Waterloo Wisconsin. Anything else is made overseas.

Check the web site or their catalog (or a bike) and you'll see them proudly proclaiming that the 4900 WSD is "Handmade in the USA" (look under the Complete Spec's section) just like the sticker says on the bike. But if you look at the mens 4900 there is no such proclaimation (and no corresponding sticker on the bikes). Anyway, I could be wrong, but I find it odd that Trek wouldn't strongly advertise the frame as being made in the US if it was. |

I do not beleive that the frame is made in the U.S.A. just that the bike is assembled in the states. Anyways I have an email into Trek tech. Hopefully they will resolve this debate for us.

Feb 20, 2002 12:42 PM | | Well I contacted Trek and they said the frame on my Y2K 6000 was made in the good ole U.S.A.. They must have stated to move their production of those frames to Asia in the last couple of years.
