| wrist pain... i need some advice | head Feb 19, 2002 8:59 AM | | lately i've been experiencing dull pain in my wrists after riding. they almost feel bruised. i ride a hardtail with the bars about 2-3 inches lower than the seat. i have a flat bar on a 130 x 5 degree stem and i'm using rapid fire xt's and magura hs-22's.
if you've had a similar problem what did you do to correct it? i'm curious about bar height, degree bend of the bar, grip thickness and brake/shifter location. any idea where i should start to try solving this problem?
thanks,

| Not kidding... | fred³ Feb 19, 2002 9:04 AM | | visit a doctor. Even if one answers here they'd be mostly guessing.
What can you do while waiting for that appointment? Try different hand positions, bars, grips, stems(unless it hurts to much then you could be injuring it further). Could it be caused by something else related to a repetative use injury like using a computer mouse, typing, painting, etc?

| Try different riding gloves | Rookie Feb 19, 2002 9:21 AM | | I had the same prob ans switches to pearl izumi gel lite gloves.
They have a groove in the padding on the palm that reduces predssure on your tendons. |
| re: wrist pain... i need some advice | heloise Feb 19, 2002 9:49 AM | | in the meantime(before your dr. appt) make sure that you are riding "relaxed" with a nice bend in your elbows. think "bent elbows+straight wrists"...the opposite tends to cause a lot of folks pain.
good luck. |
