Hi

I need to replace a Shimano 200 GS rear changer. Does anyone know what replaced this changer? and if so where to get a cheap one?

Thanks

John
If memory serves, that's pretty low end stuff...næstep

...in line with Shimano's current Acera or Alivio (I get those two confused). But the good news is that it's compatible with any other Shimano derailleur available (more accurately, current derailleurs are compatible with your shifters), so spend $25 or 30 on a LX derailleur and you'll be in a good place.

In its day, it was the only derailleur that could cleany shift with a 34t cog (I was running a 44/28 up front and a 12-34 7-speed). I would replace it twice a year as the pivots wore out but at $15 it was still cheap. When they stopped making the 200GS I switched to the Alivio.
Hmmm... Well, at $15, I suppose that's not so bad...næstep

I checked out some prices at qbike.com and don't understand how the price difference between Alivio and LX can be so small.
