| Motobecane team champion info? | crazymtbr Mar 11, 2002 3:25 PM | | Hi,
I am also looking to buy a road bike (gasp). The Motobecane team champion seems to be a GREAT deal. Full Dura-Ace everything for $1600. This deal seems to blow me away, with how cheap it is. I'm wondering though, how does it ride? It's a kinesium 2.7 lb frame and 17 lbs. Dura Ace hubs, bb, brakes, shifters, deriallers, everything. Do you think that this is a good bike? How about the handling, harshness of ride, Any mtber's/roadies out there that have tried this bike?
Thanks,

They also couldn't believe the price-they even called Motobecane to double check! For that money even if the frame sucked(I doubt it does) the components alone would be worth it! |

Also, If you are worried about the ride, pick up a Titanium layback post, or even a layback AL post rather than the Tompson style. I swapped my Tompson for a Titec X-wing on my cross bike and couldn't believe the difference. Much softer ride. |
| Specialized and Motobecane Made by same Factory | xc-baby Mar 12, 2002 9:48 PM | | I heard that the high end Specialized and Motobecane road frames are made in the same factory.
I emailed them and asked them about the frames and they said that they are stronger than 6061 and 7005 series and are handmade from specially shaped and butted tubing - sounds pretty good to me.
I was more interested in that sub 21pound hardtail of theirs - I have my eye on one coming in this spring. |
