| how do I get the water out of this damn HYDRAPAK | H20 Mar 11, 2002 5:11 PM | | I have a new hydrapak and have questions about the valve. Am i supposed to jab the plastic thing with my tongue to get the water out? what is the deal with this system seeks like it sucks so far.ha |
| um.......yeah.......... | heff® Mar 11, 2002 5:50 PM | | .......the spring loaded plunger is very low tension, you just press it with your tongue or against your teeth to open the valve. If you don't like that setup, you can replace it with the bite valve from a CamelBak, which you simply put between your teeth and squeeze.

| Thanks for the help guys. 1 more question | H20 Mar 11, 2002 7:47 PM | | with this gulp valve... do i have to cut the hydrapak valve off. it doesn't seem like I can just pull it out. Do camel pak and hydrapak use the same hose size? Any suggestions on cleaning this thing. Ive seen camel paks and they look a little more user friendly but i couldn't beat the prcie on the hydrapak and it looks well made (delta) |
| Gulp Valve.. | Jrm Mar 12, 2002 7:59 AM | | Yeah, the camelbak valve will work. |
| Gulp Valve.. | gmuny Mar 12, 2002 9:09 AM | | I found that the valve works best if you press it against the front of your top teeth. Tounge gets in the way otherwise and jams up the waterflow. BTW if you run over the valve, you get no more water. :(
As far as replacement goes, I think the hose and valve are all one piece, so you might have to cut the hose to fit the Camelbak bite valve on. I was going to do that but I found a great deal on one of the army issued Cbaks and couldn't pass it up!
Take it twice. |
