Front derailleur type for K2 Razorback(2 posts)

Front derailleur type for K2 Razorbackbugeye
Mar 11, 2002 6:47 PM
Greetings. I am building up a bike for my buddy. The frame is a 2001/2002 K2 Razorback team. I need to order a front derailleur for it. I know it requires a 1 3/8 diameter clamp, and must be top-pull. However, I don't understand the difference between top-swing and bottom-swing. Can someone clarify the difference? or better yet, if you're a K2 Razorback owner, could you tell me which type is necessary for that frame?
thanks

Razorbacks use a top pull, bottom swing.

I had a tough time finding one that fit all three criteria: clamp size, pull direction, and swing type. Finally I had to settle for an XTR. ouch.

During my search, I recall one mail-order place stating that they will gladly exchange any part EXCEPT front derailleurs! I guess they had more returned front deraillers than any other part. I can see why.
