| strange... | feathers mcgraw Mar 11, 2002 8:24 PM | | I visited one of their stores in the bay area (Mike's, I think), and they had a lot of SC stuff. I'm surprised they're not a dealer--they had a few frames in. Seemed like a real nice legit store, with a lot of road and mountain stuff. I've also ordered from them online without a problem. Sorry to hear about your problems. |
| let em sue ya... | Mossy Mar 12, 2002 11:19 AM | | Most states have consumer protection laws that hold merchants responsible for defective or damaged merchandise. They arent required to give you your money back, but they should make good on the item |
| re: bikesmart.com | Ryan Phillips Mar 13, 2002 9:36 AM | | While that's a nice story, Mark, I think that people would rather hear the truth... Mark purchased a Santa Cruz frame from BikeSmart, an authorized Santa Cruz dealer at the time of purchase and had an entire custom build kit along with it. Every part he ordered was on that bike, and it was meticulously packaged before it left our warehouse. As everyone who mail orders knows, things ocassionaly get damaged by UPS/FED-EX. Once it leaves our warehouse the bike becomes the responsibility of Fed-Ex, and all claims are between the customer and Fed-Ex. BikeSmart prides itself on customer service and we tried to help facilitate the claim on Mark's behalf. We told him that we would make sure that fed-ex pays for the bike and that we would get a new one for him. He happily aggreed. A few days later he called and said he was going to sue if us if we did not credit his card. We told him that we were in still in the process of filing a claim for him, which we don't have to do, and that when it was complete we would get him a new bike.
BikeSmart is backed by one of the largest chain of bike stores in the country and has been in business for over 35 years. We pride ourselves on having the best customer service and everyone who shops with us knows that. Mark, if you are reading this, we will still help you get the bike you ordered, you just have to be a little more rational and patient, insurance claims do take some time.
BikeSmart never threatened to sue you, and will still honor your purchase once fed-ex pays on this claim. You and I both know it's the truth and I have every e-mail sent between us to back this up. Please refrain from any more public slander as it IS something that you are liable for. |
