My favs are well the raceface lp's but we won't go there, and the FSA cranks. Their V-drive crank is a very nice crank for the $. They come in isis or tapered, and run about $120. With rings, and the FSA rings are quite nice. CNC machined ramped and pinned 7075. If $ is not a object their carbon pro cranks are very nice as well.

I have not been impressed by truvative, bontrager, kooka, etc.

The LX is a pretty good setup. Splined, but not ISIS... for $60, plus you also need a new BB... helluva deal. But you don't want shimano, so... anything other than Profile and Bontrager, I guess.
