1 1/4" MTB Stem, Question? (6 posts)
| 1 1/4" MTB Stem, Question? | Carter T Apr 24, 2002 3:30 PM | | found a site (www.bikepro.com) that claims to have many variable stems from many different companies that are 1 1/4".
My question is, that this is an odd size and I normally have had to go directly thru Klein whenever I want something for the Adroit, are there really many available stems in this size?
Control tech used to advertize in catalogue an 1 1/4", but when I called they said it was a mistake, only 1 1/8".
Just wanted some input before I pursue further.
Thanks |
| If you can find 'em, jump on 'em | Retro Apr 24, 2002 3:48 PM | | The (1-1/4) stem on my six-year-old Cannondale has always been juuust a little long, and I never HAVE been able to find a replacement. If Bikepro has some (why not ask THEM, by the way?), I'd jump on 'em. |
| I think Bikepro is DOA! | astogie Apr 24, 2002 3:55 PM | | The site lives on but you are no longer... |
| Yeah, what's that all about? | Nat Apr 24, 2002 7:11 PM | | Didn't they go out of business a couple years ago? Why's the site still up? Who's maintaining it? |
| Try Cannondale stems Kore and syntace.... | nosloagan Apr 24, 2002 4:35 PM | | you'll have to use a shim. I believe they are 1.5. I looked in to other stems but know one could help. |
| re: 1 1/4" MTB Stem, Question? | Bob Apr 25, 2002 4:04 AM | | If you are sure it is 1-1/4" and not a Klein proprietary design (AirHead), I have two 1-1/4" stems I'd be willing to part with.
One is a Kore (polished, 150mm long, 5 degree rise) say $20? the other is an OEM model (not the lightest) silver, 130mm, 10 degree rise. say about $10?
If you do indeed need a Klein Airhead set I thought I saw one listed in the classified section here about two months ago. I think it was a headset / fork combo.
Good luck and let me know if you're interested.
