| Where to stay in Moab??? | Waide Apr 25, 2002 3:19 AM | | I've never been to Moab, but I may try to drive up soon. I don't know where to stay. I'd like to find an affordable motel that's not too far from the action. It would also be good if I didn't need reservations. Let me know what else I need to know before I go.... |
| my personal favorite | Bob Apr 25, 2002 7:11 AM | | Is the Apache motel. It's about 2 blocks off "the strip". So it's quiet. It's right at the base of the road leading up to Slick rock and Porqupine Rim.
Has cheap, clean rooms with extra room for bikes and has a pool. Plus it has a really cool, kitchzy (sp?) sign out front. Rooms were like $45-50 a night last time I stayed there. http://www.quintstar.com/apache/
Option 2 is the Ramada Inn right on the strip. Little more pricey, Nice pool and hot tub, walk across the street for beer and right across the street from the best breakfast in town. http://www.quintstar.com/ramada/
Have fun!!

| KOA, baby! | bulldozer Apr 25, 2002 8:07 AM | | The KOA is where it's at! Rent one of their little cabins. |
| Just be advised... | Sultan of Singletrack Apr 25, 2002 11:01 AM | | Many motels DO NOT ALLOW BIKES INSIDE.
Just so you know.
I always camp at Ken's Lake in the summer. It's free. There are no facilities, but there's a nice stream to wash off after a great day of biking.
Hey, cheap is good but free is better. |
| my 2 ¢ | Rider Mel Apr 25, 2002 11:49 AM | | Howdy, most of the Moab motels are pretty good but a few are not bike friendly. The Big Horn Lodge and Red Stone Inn both allow bikes in rooms and have pools. They are both fairly cheap as well. The Apache, as mentioned, is pretty popular too. Camping cabins (available at Slickrock Campground, Moab Valley Campark, Canyonlands Campground, and KOA) run around $40 and give you access to showers, a pool and often a hot-tub.
Email me at ridermel@moabtrailguide if you have any other questions. Have fun in Moab!
