flat-spotted rim... how big a deal is this?up_hiller

I knocked the crap out of my rear wheel on a stump in a race Sunday. I got the wheel true now, but the rim still has a flat spot that isn't going away. How big a deal is this? I rode about ten miles on it yesterday and didn't notice anything different about the ride at all. Should I be prepared for the rim to fail completely any ride now? Or do I just keep trucking and wait until I do it again or I wear out the hub, and then seize the opportunity to replace the wheel?

Thanks.
happy trails!

I banged the sh*t out of a Mavic 217 rear a few years ago. The shop was able to true it, but one spoke must remain loose (I marked it). The sidewall is damaged, but the brake doesn't even drag on it. I don't even think about it when I ride this rim.

But I haven't put a ton of miles on it, because it's on an old XT wheelset.

But also again, if I were racing, I might get a new hoop.
