Cannondale warranty questionLes

Anyone know this one...I have a medium F series frame...I believe it is lifetime warranty...now, if it "should happen" to develop a crack, will C-dale give me a new frame? a large instead of the medium? How does that work?

I had awesome warranty service direct from Santa Cruz, including a size, color and shock change for a frame and swingarm that was taco'd against the garage roof, hardly Santa Cruz's fault. Not sure C'dale can beat that. I THINK you have to go through your LBS for Cannondale warranties.

If it crack is due an obvious manufacturing defect, then you will get a new one. If the crack is wear and tear, i.e. chain suck thinning chainstays, or was caused by an endo during 'normal' riding, you should get a new frame at a hugely reduced price. If the crack is from obvious abuse, improper use or a deliberate attempt to break the frame for the warranty, you'll likely get nothing.

If your dealer is a nice guy and wants to keep your business, he will order in a new size. Our local Cannondale shop would do this.

Careful with F series sizings, for 2002 the sizings are XS, S, M, L, XL, before they were S, M, L, XL and jumbo. So this year's L is last years XL, etc.

Good luck, JP.
And then we wonder why warranties and bike prices suck......(nm)Jekyll

purposefully breaking your frame to get a warranty size increase, I'd think long and hard about it. C-dale has a well deserved bad reputation for their warranty service. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a new frame, maybe you'll get nothing. Most of the time what I've seen, especially if the bike is more than a year old, is the good ol' crash replacement policy, wherein you are given the opportunity to purchase a brand spankin' new c-dale frame for like $650, and yes thats for a hardtail. what a bargain 'eh?
No problem with their warr. service, here.Finch Platte

Maybe it's the LBS, too, but I had no problem replacing the frame or swingarm that developed cracks on my Jekyll. They've always been 'good' to me.

Still wouldn't buy another, tho- warrantees ain't everything.
