Is $750 too much to ask for the following Trek? <m>jwo

I'm trying to sell my '00 Trek Y3 with the following upgrades: Manitou SX-R fork, Shimano XTR V-brakes, Sram 5.0 composite brake levers, Specialized Body Geometry MTB seat, Slime tubes, Pananracer XC Fire Pro up front, Michelin Wildgripper Hot S in rear, Shock Mount front fender, Icon Fatboy bar ends, Topeak Mini Blaster pump, heavy spring on Fox Vanilla rear shock. I didn't do too much trail riding on it, there are no dings in the frame. Am I out there asking $750 for it? I've seen totally stock '99 Y3s go for $500 on eBay recently.
Ummm...hate to tell you this but $750 is WAY out of line...Squash

The bike retailed brand new in 00 for $879.99. Rule of thumb for used bike pricing is to divide retail in half for the first year, then subtract between $50 and $100 (depending on condition) for each subsiquent year. The reason your seeing 99 Y's on Ebay for $500 is that people know they can't get 5 bills for them any other way. So divide $880 by 2 and you get $440, subtract another $50 for the 02 model year for $390. Then add back in a little for the fox and the SXR which are deffinate up grades, say about $75 for the fox and $25 for the SXR. That nets you about $490. I'd say you'd be reasonable in asking between $500 and $550 for it. But that being said, the Trek Y series IS NOT a popular design and you may have trouble getting that much for it. It is also a discontinued design, which will most likely detract from it's value. To new to be a "Classic", and obsolete as in gonna get real hard to find spare parts in the next couple of years or so. If it's in excellent shape, I'd say try getting $550 for it, but be prepared to settle for less. I know that will seem low to you, but bikes aren't like cars and don't hold resale value well.

Good Dirt
Actually I'm Not Surprised <m>jwo

I figured as much. I'll give it a go on eBay as I have it now just for giggles but if somebody offered me $550 for it, I'd let it go.
