Completely unrelated - So Cal cell phone plans & suggestionspaulesk177

I'm looking into getting a new cell phone and plan for work. I'm through with my prepaid, charge per minute phone. I'm mainly concerned with which company to go with (AT&T, Singular, Verizon, etc). Anyone have good/bad luck with any in the Los Angeles/Orange county area?
Also, some suggestions on phones would be helpful.

Sorry for this being so off topic, but I would rather hear this from real people.
Thanks.

AT&T, and Verizon have been good to my friends. Sprint sucks hard!, the rest dont seem to be that great either.

I am up in Northern LA county (Lancaster). With sprint its 50/50 that you will get service, really sad IMO.

Goodluck with your descision. I will be on the same knowledge hunt soon.

I had Sprint until I changed to Verizon. Sprint's coverage is horrible, but the prices are cheap. Low prices don't matter if you can't make a call when you need to. Verizon has excellent coverage in LA and nationwide. I can usually get service outside metropolitan areas in places I ride, which is comforting for emergencies. My phone even rang when I was lost in a rural area fifty miles from Moab. Prepaid is horribly expensive. Just make sure you get enough minutes so you won't go over, as excess minutes often cost as much as $0.35 per minute. If your plan includes a lot of night and weekend minutes, use the cell phone for all calls in these periods, especially long distance and local long distance, and you will save some money on your land line bill.

Thanks to everyone.

Yeah, this prepaid phone is only for emergencies and to communicate with the fiance (and it sucks 1/2 the time). Now a new job will most likely require the ue of a phone. I'll give Verizon a try.

Keep riding and be good to others.
