BIGFOOT 2002, July 12, 13 & 14, (hillclimb, XC & DH) at Bald Mountain, about 20 miles from Arcata (home of Humboldt State University). It's an old fashioned type of event with a wheelie contest, a Huffy Toss, post-race barbecue and the "Little Feet" kids race. The XC course is a fun mix of single-track and fireroad. New this year is a long singletrack section down in a creek canyon--beautiful, green, and tons o'traction. The DH is long--we expect expert times to be about 4:30, and it has a bit of everything, including major drops and hucks for the experts, and safe and sane alternate lines for those planning to go to work on Monday. 12 HOURS OF HUMBOLDT, June 22, This race runs from 8am-8pm, all in daylight, so you don't need lights to get a taste of endurance racing. The course is right next to Humboldt State University in the Arcata Community Forest. There are several categories (beginner, sport, expert, clydsdale, Jr, Master, etc) for 4-rider teams, 2-riders teams and solo. For details visit www.teambigfoot.net |
