Help with mtn bike commuter tire choices.Guidosan

I posted this at roadbikereview.com and got some good suggestions, They mentioned Continental Avenues, Michelin Wildgrippers and Specialized Fatboys. But I was wondering if anybody here could help me out as well. You see, I am only riding on the road and I am finally ready to get some slicks for my mtn bike that I commute with. On my weekend rides, I will usually go around 30 miles, but when I commute to work, there is one route where the cyclists are encouraged to use the sidewalk since the road narrows quite a bit. There is also a patch of gravel that is about 30 feet that I have to go through. I am thinking about getting the Panaracer T-serve messenger, that is 1.25" and is rated for 80 psi. The other tire is the IRC Metro Duro, which is 1.5" and is rated for 100psi. I am wondering if anybody has any experience with these tires and how flat resistant are they. Although one tire is narrower, the other has a higher psi. therefore which of these tires would be faster on the road and if there is a better choice, what are they.
Thanks for the help.

If you can find a good deal, I would recommend Bontrager Revolt SS. They are a cross between pavement and dirt tires (more for pavement). I can usually find them on sale for $20 a pair. They are not the best tire in the world, but they are very good for your application and you cannot beat the price.
