What Trunk Rack for GF sugar?(4 posts)

What Trunk Rack for GF sugar?mkl22

Need a trunk rack that best fits a sugar. can't use a roof rack as the car has to be able to enter underground/multi storey carparks. Hitch racks are also not possible as Singapore doesn't allow a hitch to be installed in cars(no trailers allowed).
was thinking about the saris bones, but the need to fit a artificial top tube to fit the carrier is a hassle.
thanks
I used a Bones with mineslowideclyde

Bought a cheap Graber device that was basically an extending tube with a clam on either end for the post and stem. That's probably about as good as you can do unless someone makes a rack specifically for Sugars and other fs frames with weird shapes. There wouldn't be much money in that so trunk racks are built to hold traditional diamond frames.

I had the same problem with my Specialized FSR XC Comp. I almost bought the Bones, but there was absolutely no way to fit the bike on without that funky top tube adapter. I ended up buying a Hollywood three bike rack that simply has two straight tubes with no buckles or fastners. I can get any bike on the rack. It holds three bikes securely and is very solid when its six straps are connected to the car properly. Best yet it cost 50 pounds which is half the cost of the Bones. My suggestion is to look for simple good quality racks without all the fancy straps and buckles. You may be surprised at the results. Good luck.

I use the Bones rack. With my wifes womens bike I use the adapter bar, works good. I have had excellent customer service from Bones (Saris) when I needed parts for the rack. Shipped new starps for free. Give it a try.
