I'm sure there are even a few 2.25's that you can stuff in the rear of a Trek. But I haven't found one yet. The biggest I can comfortably get in my 7000 is a 2.1 WTB or the Fire 2.1's. You can go with whatever your fork will accomodate on the front, but the rear is pretty much 2.1 or bust.
