Servicing sealed bearings(3 posts)

Servicing sealed bearingsPaul H

I want to install new sealed bearing cartridges in the rear wheel on Mavic crossride wheels. I have the removed the special bearing cover from the side opposite the freewheel and thought the axle would come out from the freewheel side but it would not. I can't seem to get the nut loose from the freewheel side. Does this job require a special bearing puller/tool? Does the freewhell/cartridge assembly need to be removed to facilitate this repair? Also, is anyone aware of a website that would supply instructions for this kind of repair? Lots of questions - any help appreciated.
