Is it sold? What happens? Because if these bikes are just gonna lay around and no one is gonna use one, they could give it to me. |

Complete bikes usually go back, but are usually available for purchase at a bro buddy price much lower than wholesale, if the tester falls in love with it. How low? Like $600 for a complete Obed, or $500 for a Merlin road frame. On rare occasions, a complete bike can end up in the hands of the magazine for promised use in future photo shoots and equipment tests, and sometimes it goes to a particularly hard-riding editor for "extended testing," so the manufacturer can see how it holds up long term. I've been trying to break a Merlin MTB frame since '92, to help out the company. So far, no luck... |
