| Where to buy protective tape for Frame and Forks | boyd Jul 13, 2002 6:55 PM | | I wrapped my previous bike's forks and frame in a thick transparent plastic tape that is a bit stretchy to bend round corners. After 3 years hard riding it looked perfect. Where can I buy that tape cheap in this country? The local motorcycle shop only had custom stuff for gas tanks with dorky decals and $25 for a couple of small sheets.

| try local sports or hobby shops..... | Dave in Md. Jul 14, 2002 5:12 AM | | or maybe a shop which makes custom decals. Might try crafts shops also. Don't know of any online suppliers. |

| Transparent Tape | KStone Jul 14, 2002 10:12 AM | | If you are looking for larger pieces of "tape" to rap fork legs, etc. Try adhesive backed clear plastic shelf paper. Use a hair dryer to soften it, while installing, to help form it around corners, etc.
Another product I use for chain stay protection and cable rub is non skid all polymer tape used on boat decks and other water sports stuff. Don't buy the stuff with sand in it and get the all polymer tape which comes in clear, white, gray, or black. This stuff is much thicker than most plastic tape, comes in 1" and 2" widths, and is about $0.50 per foot at Marine supply stores.

Anyone know where to buy it? |

| Park tire patch | Jimmy Hoffa Jul 15, 2002 12:29 PM | | Park makes extremely adhesive clear tire patches that work great as frame savers. Check with your LBS. |
| re: Where to buy protective tape for Frame and Forks | pa rider Jul 16, 2002 3:13 AM | | I bought ski saver for this a few years back. You can buy it at any ski shop. I used it to wrap the down tube on a klein pulse I owned a few years back.
I think it was over $15 for the stuff, so only buy it there if that's the only place you can find it. It helped alot for small rocks, but the big stuff still cut through on me. |
