Lost Souls -- SIDI Problems(4 posts)

Lost Souls -- SIDI Problemslnin0

I purchased a pair of SIDI Dominator 2 towards the end of last season. They where on close out from 2000, I think, because they are the blue and yellow model with 3 holes for climbing spikes.

Anyway, last year I might have rode them a dozen times. This year maybe two dozen. Maybe more but even if I exagurated it would not top 75 rides in these shoes.

I ride in Illinois and a typical ride consists of about 3hrs. Occasional mud and a handfull of creak crossings (all ridable) but normally dry conditions. I did not wear them out in the winter and store them on a shelf inside my house.

Anyway, after riding today I noticed that both soles are coming unglued from the uppers at the back. Right now it is relatively minor, about 1/2-1", but I am sure it will continue to get worse.

Has anyone had a similar issue with their SIDIs? Does anyone know what their warrenty is ( I have my box but no receipt)??? Prior to this shoe I had a pair of Specialized for 2 years and never had any technical issues with them. I thought SIDIs are so expensive because they are so good??? or is it that SIDIs were once SO GOOD and now they just shovel out average shoes and live off their past reputation like so many other once great companies???

hi

Have you had them anywhere near heat? say a heater/open fire etc.

Heat kills he glue - always dry them at room temperature.

If they are very wet put some newspapers in them to soak op the moisture.

Have fun

Call Veltec Sports. Really nice folks. The warranty is one year, if it's not a warranty then shoe goo is the trick. 800-578-5790

FWIW I wouldn't buy anything but Sidi.
check with a dealercm

My SIDI shoes, which are the cheaper model, have put up with way more abuse than I could have expected, so I don't think they've lowered their standards. You should contact a dealer to see what fixes they can offer - the guys I ride with have gone through some buckles and parts during years of freeriding abuse and SIDI seems to orient their gear towards quality, allowing long use and repair vs. cheaper brands that are ready for the trash heap when something goes wrong. Sounds like either you got a bad pair or perhaps they were exposed to too much heat.
