Are 34 tooth cogs a bad Idea with XTR rear derailers? Im getting BAD ghost shifting....

I've got the same setup and it works just fine. Of course, I'm assuming you have a long cage (SGS) derailleur. If I understand correctly, a short cage derailleur won't even fit on the 34 tooth cog in the first place, so that can't be your problem. Do you have rear suspension? Ghost shifting is frequently caused by too short cable housing (which stretches when the suspension moves). This would manifest itself mostly under pressure and wouldn't exist on the stand. Other culprits can be: bad cables/housing, really dirty derailleur spring, loose or worn cassette, loose freehub, improper chain length, the price of pork in China, poorly adjusted gears, etc. Check em all one at a time until you figure it out. (Does it only ghostshift on that one ring, or all of them?)
