Altoona, PA riding opportunities (4 posts)
| Altoona, PA riding opportunities | Nug Aug 6, 2002 5:09 PM | | I'll be in Altoona the week of 8/18 and would be interested in any group rides that go out (from bike shops, etc.) off or on road. I'm going to research trails in the reviews (Blue Knob looks promising). I'd appreciate any suggestions/info. Thanks. |

Get a map at the Ranger station. Rockin Ridge, Mt. View, etc. Lots of single track, rocks, roots, climbs. Great riding... |
| If you are feeling adventurous, he is a suggestion..... | Rev Bubba Aug 8, 2002 4:13 AM | | I was in Loretto a few weeks ago and returned via Gallitzin to Altoona and points north.
Away, if you take the road from Altoona to Gallitzin that passes horseshoe curve you will see numerous trails starting off to the left as you head towards Gallitzin. They appear to start just after you go through the one lane auto tunnel that is a few miles passed horseshoe.
Although my wife and I had our bikes, we didn't have the time to ride them but they looked choice. I plan to explore them next summer when I'm up that way again.
Let me know if you ride any of them. |

I know just where you mean, Rev- been through that tunnel a few times, and of course I had to see the "World Famous" curve. That's no more than 6 miles from where I'll be staying. If I hit the trails, I'll let you know. |
