What kind of touch up paint do you use?ScrapedUp
Aug 7, 2002 5:07 PM
My paint has scraped off from my bike rack all the way down to the frame and I was wondering if auto paint is overkill or will hobby type paint work. What do you usually use, if anything at all to do touch up jobs. The area is only about 1/8 inch wide but almost a 1/2 inch long.

Thanks!

So I bought white touch up paint from the Toyota dealer and use it on my cars and bike. I've heard people using Testors model paint which is much cheaper. In my experience, I can kill two, er three, birds with one type of paint.

I found a 3-pack at Walmart for a few bucks, gloss black, red and white. And my bike happens to be gloss black, red, and white. The paint pens are so much easier and convenient to use than the regular paints, since you don't need brushes, paint thinner, etc.

If it's steel, it'll rust, so you might want to use some Testor's model paint and some clear nail polish over it. If it's aluminum, it won't rust so leave it - it makes you look rugged.
