| Anyone recommend a good cheap dry weather lube? | 1500MPG Aug 8, 2002 5:54 AM | | I've got the expensive bike specific wet lube(Finish Line), I ran out of the pricy dry weather lube(Finish Line).
I'm cheap and think ordering lube made in England is way overkill for my bike as a long term solution, it's just lube after all.
I'd like to be able to go to home depot or an auto parts store and buy a cheap can of dry weather lube.
Thanks,
Bike. |

| this works for me..... | Dave in Md. Aug 8, 2002 4:18 PM | | I mix White Lightning and Pedro's Ice Wax together. I found WL too thin and Ice Wax too thick, so on recommendation from Bikebreath, I tried mixing them to the consistency I like. Has worked great! I used an old empty WL bottle to mix them in and apply. |
| I don't get it... | næstep Aug 8, 2002 4:36 PM | | Don't take this as a personal attack, but you're saying it's important to be cost conscious, yet at the same time you're looking for an aerosol lube that sprays all over everything except inside the roller pin it's supposed to land on?
This is one of the reasons I won't buy aerosol chain lubes (plus they overspray onto my rims). I know, I know, White Lightning, Boeshield T9, Pedros and other drip lubes are tedious to apply, but hit only the roller link they're directly applied to, they seem more durable than sprays (I used Boeshield aerosol for a while as an experiment), and give more applications per container.
Just my 2¢.

| The bike is my commuter and gets 10 seconds of attention... | 1500MPG Aug 9, 2002 4:25 AM | | næstep,
The bike is my commuter and I allocate about 10 seconds for this task in the morning once a week if I noticed my chain squeaking the previous ride. I ride this machine about 2500 miles per year. Quick, cheap and decent quality is the answer I'm looking for. I use the drip lube on one of my bikes but I have 3 working ones now and the commuter only gets 10 seconds once a week.
