| Warning! Source of Roman Catholic Priest abuse found! | TickTock Sep 3, 2002 6:16 PM | | Yes its real, no I dont know what church it is in.
Sometimes things just fall together.
I am sorry if it offends anyone but man, I just think this is the saddest, funniest thing I have ever seen. |

| Actually, I have seen these windows in churches | Bishop Don Juan Sep 3, 2002 8:30 PM | | Don't know whether this is fake or real, but I have seen a couple of stain glass windows like this in real churches.
It's just a scene depicting a blessing on boy's head... but the visual has grown to be interpreted in new "light" nowadays. |
| >:-( | Sexly Sep 3, 2002 8:22 PM | | I'm not catholic but I am plenty offended. It doesn't make it alright to say, "sorry if this is going to offend anyone but I am just going to go ahead and post it anyways". |
| >:-( | TickTock Sep 4, 2002 5:12 AM | | Well I think its pretty funny, and i think other people think its pretty funny. They attempted to raise me catholic but it was so filled with sickening money begging, guilt trips and archaic systems that I rejected it before I even hit high school. I am not saying that all catholics are bad, but they sure have some screwed up people representing them. When officials from the church try to claim that a child's abuse is partly the child and the parents' fault (as is happening here in boston)one cannot expect the organization to be respected anymore.
In theory the religion is good and just, but it has been warped and has failed to adapt to the more mature moral and social tenets of society.
So if you're offended, look hard at exactly why it offends you. Is it because it sheds bad light on something you believe in, because it exposes some hidden shame towards the organization, or is it simply a crude allegation and you would be just as offended if i posted a picture of some girl in a bikini riding a bike? |
| >:-( | DOOOOOOOOOOD Sep 4, 2002 9:56 PM | | I'm Catholic and I think it's hilarious. Being religious doesn't mean you can't have a sense of humor. (unless you're one of those old catholics that thinks that everything in this world is evil and anything you do is a sin....ironically also the ones that proclaim that you can be reconciled and completely forgiven the next day at reconciliation) |

| re: Warning! Source of Roman Catholic Priest abuse found! | "London"Luke Sep 3, 2002 10:17 PM | | Dont be scared.............
I was at a catholic school for 10 years. Here in Uk. Let me tell you this.If you think that this sort of thing doesnt go on your stupid. 4 priests i knew of had allegations made about them. And got taken to the Vatican so the law couldnt get them. 3 of them are now working in south America. |
| re: Warning! Source of Roman Catholic Priest abuse found! | Zyzbot Sep 4, 2002 3:41 AM | | Don't blame it all on the Catholic priests. Where I live, it is more often the Baptist ministers who are getting caught. |
| It's a situation possible of any trusted clergymen. | tlg Sep 4, 2002 3:51 AM | | The Catholic "corporation" is taking heat the most though (hopefully in their "hell"). Because of their power, imorality, ability and willingness to protect and hide the skeletons in their many closets. The average Baptist minister doesn't have that sort of protection. They get caught, booted out, and it's over with. The Catholic priest gets caught, protected, and promoted. |
| It's a situation possible of any trusted clergymen. | Zyzbot Sep 4, 2002 8:12 AM | | Not entirely true. The Catholic church is the focus right now because that's what the media does....focus on one thing to the exclusion of others. The same way they are focusing on child abductions even though the number has actually gone down.
ALL churches have this problem to some extent and many of them have tried to cover up. It doesn't mean that there have not been serious crimes and errors by the Catholic church, but adopting a too simplistic view leads to wrong conclusions.

| It's a situation possible of any trusted clergymen. | tlg Sep 4, 2002 9:35 AM | | All churches have the problem, but the depth of the coverup (all the way to the pope) by the "Catholic corporation" makes other religions pale in comparison. Their the Enron of religion. |
| It's a situation possible of any trusted clergymen. | Zyzbot Sep 5, 2002 6:23 AM | | Ah..reliious bigotry at its finest. |
| It's a situation possible of any trusted clergymen. | tlg Sep 5, 2002 7:06 AM | | Sorry, not bigotry at all. I have no "group" and am tolerant of others.
Show me a religion with a bigger bankroll than the Catholic church who's had as much widespread coverup and I'll change my opinion.
big·ot: One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. |
| Irony at it's finest | tlg Sep 4, 2002 3:43 AM | | Yes, that should be offensive. But the "Catholic coverup" created the sentiments and pretty much makes anything else seem rather insignificant. |

| Not following you there ... | tlg Sep 4, 2002 11:26 AM | | I think he means... Priests molest little boys. You are your fathers little boy... thus he molests you. Making you his lover. |

| Sad it maybe.... | Peyote Sep 5, 2002 12:04 AM | | ...but these kind of things do go on, and any possible solutions need to be discussed in the public domain (transparency = trust). Not sure if an MTB forum is the best place though, 'spose it has to start somewhere.
For the record I found it very amusing, just another sign of the times. |
