ATAC - trouble getting in(5 posts)

ATAC - trouble getting inJeff Rage

I've ridden my Time ATAC pedals now about 75 days. Believe it or not, I still having trouble clicking into them maybe 20% of the time. The cleats are tight, they are set on the recreational setting, and they are broken in. The problem is that when I put my shoe on the pedal, I can't tell by feel where the cleat is in relation to the pedal. I have to slowly move it up or down a little at a time, until I find the pedal. Which is hard to do if you starting in a tricky area.

Is there a trick to finding the right position that I am not aware of?

Try to click in your shoe while holding it to see if any part of the sole is interfering.

I initially had trouble with time release. For a lot longer than 75 days. I eventually got it after switching back to SPD for a while.

If I get the cleat in line with the pedal it clips in quite easily. My problem is lining them up by feel.

I rode ATAC's for about 3 years. I had problems getting into them w/ shoes w/ really agressive tread. You might want to trim down the sole around the cleat area to make it easier to get into. My final solution to my ATAC woes was simply switching to Shimano 959. I like these pedals much more than the ATAC's.

ATACs with SIDI shoes work like butter the SIDI's tend to have less tread in the cleat area.
