| Clicking Front Hub? | Dman Oct 3, 2002 6:00 PM | | Went for a ride today, but unfortunately it didn't last long as there is a clicking noise coming from somewhere in the front of my bike, so I turned around and went home. I'm pretty sure it's the front hub. Also if I get some speed (like going down a nice big hill) there is an annoying screech from, again the front hub? Does it need to be taken apart and relubed?
Thx. |

has a very good section on doing this. |
| Maybe too late. | tlg Oct 4, 2002 4:23 AM | | Take it apart. It's really not that hard to do. A pencil type magnet is a great tool for getting out the balls.
If it's making a screech like you describe, it may be too late. If there is no lube and you're running metal on metal you could have damage.
Taking the hub apart is the easy part. Putting it back together isn't hard either. Adjusting the cones properly can be tricky. You may want to take it to the LBS to check the cone adjustment if you've never done it before. http://www.parktool.com/repair_help/howfix_hub.shtml |
