| cordless computer issues... | xxlt Nov 6, 2002 5:18 PM | | Hey all. As I've previously posted, my custom Ti is done and is amazing! I love riding that thing...
So I go to put on my Cateye Cordless and find that where I have to position the magnent takes it out of range of the computer (its a tall bike and thus has a tall headtube, distance of about 2.5 feet?). Anyone have a suggestion? A different cordless computer? Alternate mounting scheme (although I've tried many), maybe a corded version?
Thanks all. |

| re: cordless computer issues... | xxlt Nov 6, 2002 5:38 PM | | Did, and the distance between the magnent and sensor is too far. And at the outside of the rim, the computer still barely reads it anyway when I just hold it close. |
| I would say in that case it's a battery issue ... | Philber Nov 6, 2002 9:30 PM | | If it reads really close like that, but doesn't read at a reasonable distance, like 3 feet, then it's probably the battery in the sensor. If it's more than a year old, that's your culprit. |
| re: cordless computer issues... | Fast Freddy Nov 6, 2002 5:35 PM | | Hmmm.... Never used that one. I have a Sigma Sport cordless on my mountain bike - I'm satisfies with it but not overjoyed. I JUST (yesterday) installed a Vetta V100 cordless on my road bike and it works GREAT. I'm really impressed with it. It has wireless speed and cadence. I mounted the speed to the front wheel - but I'm going to try it on the back wheel for the trainer. I held it at the back wheel and check it worked from there.... I'm impressed with the Vetta's cordless power. Maybe it will use batteries more???? I dunno....
My only suggestion for your set up would be get a magnet that fits on 1 spoke and not the stradle 2 spoke thingy my other Cateye computer uses and see if you can get it to work higher up on the fork... be sure to try the fron and back side of the fork - one may work better than the other!

| re: cordless computer issues... | seeker333 Nov 7, 2002 12:53 AM | | the Cordless 2 manual states maximum distance between sensor and computer is 45 cm (~18 inches). i have used one for a couple years without any problem on the original batteries. my current distance is 15 inches, but has been up to 18 in. a quick test shows mine loses signal at 20 inches. |
| re: cordless computer issues... | roo Nov 7, 2002 7:10 AM | | i think you're hosed and will have to go with a different set-up. i'm running the same cordless system and am at the limit distance-wise between the sensor and the computer and i'm not a clyde. as it is i'm surprised i haven't ripped the sensor off of the fork because i have it angled way in to be close enough to the spoke magnet. because of the distance issue the unit doesn't work completely in colder weather also (mid 30's and under). works fine in all other situations. PS: i had to order a fork sensor extension from cateye to move the sensor closer to the spokes(i have a z2atom80 fork)to make mine work, they have magnets too and good cust. serv reps. good luck |
| Try Changing the Battery | bikebum Nov 7, 2002 12:59 PM | | I was having the same issues with mine (Vetta Wireless). The battery needed to be replaced. |
