How can I make my fork lowers shiny?GirchyGirchy

My new Duke XC came with an odd, blue finish. It seems kinda like someone spray painted it, like how the black paint turned out on my subwoofer box. It's a bit glossy, but not much...looks a bit like a satin finish. Could I do something to get them to shine like my frame?
No,that finish is meant to look that way [more]DIRTJUNKIE

I think by rubbing it out with compound you might ruin it.

You may want to try a clearcoat of some sort. Find out from RS what type of paint/clear-coat it is and just go to a quality automotive finish place. You can get some pretty decent results with rattle-can clearcoats these days.

THEN, you can rub it shiny.

If you're gonna clear coat it, first GENTLY scuff-sand it with 400 or 600 grit sandpaper, being careful not to sand thru any sharp corners or edges like on the "duke" logos and such.....Scuff it up just enough to give the new clearcoat a littlewipe it down with iso-alcohol, let it dry, get yourself some COMPATIABLE spray can clearcoat, but like the other guy said only after calling rock shox to see what kind of paint they use.

Both DUPLI-COLOR and PLASTI-COTE make great quality aerosol clear coats; they're actually automotive touch-up paints and can be found at auto-zone, advance auto, pep boys, etc.... Read their cans, but I believe they're acrylic enamel. let that stuff cure for about a week or so, then rub it out with some TURTLE WAX CLEARCOAT RUBBING COMPOUND. The non-abrasive stuff.

Good luck......

Yeah but after doing this it might void any warranty [nm]DIRTJUNKIE
