| DC Skate shoes good for riding? | FHM Nov 7, 2002 11:57 AM | | I've been riding clipless for a while but recently got back on some flats and have found out that there are some advantages to thme when used on trails.
It seems like skate shoes are good for riding?
Anyone have experience with DC shoes?
Any recommendations?

Best combo is a nice flat sole (no "off-road" type of lug tred, unless you are planning on doing a lot of mud hiking) with platform pedals with the little allen screws that are used for traction. The pedals don't need any knarly teeth, just a good amount of allen screws. I ride in Vans with Tioga MX Pro platforms, best combo I have found yet. Forget about pedals that are desinged for toe clip use, they are worthless. |

| DC, Osiris, Emerica, Etnies, Duffs... | toonces Nov 7, 2002 5:41 PM | | Trying or tried one or more of the above brands at some point in time. The Osiris Heltas were tall for ankle protection but the soles wore quick. I'm using a pair of DC Axels now and they seem to be doing OK. The first things I look for in a shoe are the tread pattern and protection. Protection (heel bags and junk) come at a cost, but some places sell shoes cheap. The Axels were real cheap and are no frills, but are stiff enough for me. Emericas fit well and my Marc Johnsons have lasted a strangly long time. Good grip too. Duffs are for casual use for now, but they're kinda small for my size but were comfy right off the bat. I have a pair of DC Truths that I'll use when my other shoes wear out. Yes, I like shoes. No, I'm not a woman :) |
| OLD SKOOL VANS HIGH TOPS! | burbank bob Nov 8, 2002 7:57 PM | | Old Skool Vans high tops are the best shoe I've used with platforms. So much grip you sometimes think you are clipped in! |
