| Fork Not Getting Full Travel... | Richard Nov 7, 2002 3:59 PM | | I have a 2001 Rock Shox Psylo XC. I don't think I'm getting the full travel out of it. Looking at the lines left by the dust/dirt, I'm only getting 3-3.5 inches of travel. I've tried everything except actually getting into the insides of the fork.
Any ideas on what might be causing this? Any remedies? |
| Check it with a zip tie | shiggy Nov 7, 2002 4:22 PM | | The dust lines usually are not at full travel unless the fork is bottoming all of the time. You should get full travel only on the big hits, maybe just a couple of times a ride. |

Shouldn't I be able to get close to full extension by just pressing hard on the fork with the front brake locked?? |
| No | shiggy Nov 7, 2002 6:00 PM | | Just jumping on the bars is not nearly as much forse as actually you get while riding. |
| If you can get CLOSE to full travel | NoSpode Nov 8, 2002 7:34 AM | | by locking up the brake and "jumping up and down", your forks WAY too under sprung. |
| Put on some weight. NM | robbz27 Nov 8, 2002 7:34 AM | | |
| To get more travel... | Nat Nov 8, 2002 9:21 AM | | do what I (and many others I've asked) do: aim at all the biggest trail obstacles, and shove down on the bike when you hit them! Now that you have an FS, you're supposed to ride like a sack of wet cement, right?

If there is too much oil in the rebound side of your fork, the fork will not fully compress . You need to put on a zip tie and go do some 3-5 foot drops, then see how much travel you get after really trying to compress the fork. |
