I have been looking into a new seat for some
time and I need something that will be light and
still do the job. It seems like everyone likes
those Terrys but they seem huge. I was looking
at the Koobi any thoughts?

I ride a Koobie Silver. Nice saddle. I think it's 265 grams. It is wider at the rear than most saddles but that is what works for me. If you look at pictures of both the Koobie and the Terry mens Dragonfly they are almost identical, except the split on the Koobie goes thru the nose. Probably made by the same Mnfg. If you do get one you will find it feels better if you tip the nose down a little more than what you are riding now. Koobie recommends it and it does work.

If your johnson is getting sore while riding there is either something seriously wrong with your riding style, or you are enjoying this MTB'g thing way way way too much and you need to relax a bit....

I think you're talking about your scrotum.....before you dish out for a new saddle, try adjusting the one you have (the saddle, not the scrotum). Tilt it forward a bit so you're sitting more on your cheeks or even slide the whole seat forward a bit on it's rails. This should help ease the pressure.

Cheers
Hey, that's what I do!!!Cloxxki

I'm a racer, my seating position is quite extreme, low bars. I tilt my seats VERY much forward, get funny looks everywhere. I won't ride a bike without it. Most guys don't understand guess they have "less" of a problem sitting on their seat. The seat this way also makes me faster IMO, I can use the rear of the seat as a "starting block", not nlike the now illegal triathlon seat that had a vertical piece behind it.
Recently I shortly rode a level-mounted Selle Italia TransAm LDY, and I was impressed. Man, that felt comfy! But, I'm vry much a racer, and won't use a wimpy, heavy seat-with-hole till I really need it. Although I know it will make a huge diff, especially on longer rides.

The tilted seat has another advantage, I can stretch my back better, releaving it quite a bit, I hardly have aching backs this way. Level the seat and I'm all cramped on it, trying to releave something much more important than my back...

I just posted a review on the Koobi Xenon, which I've got on my road bike. It's great for what I use it for, but I'd recommend one of their softer saddles for MTB'ing. (It's made by Selle Italia in Italy by the way). Nice and light and looks sweet.

For mountain biking, I haven't found anything I like better than my WTB Speed V. It's got a "love channel" but it doesn't go all the way forward. However, it does have a nice soft "comfort zone" right in the important spot front and center. Works wonders. Cheap to try out too (you can get one for about $25 online).

Another option that several of my friends (die hard Terry Liberator fans) have recently converted to is the Serfas DD Vado. It is a sweet saddle (I haven't really ridden it, but I sat on one for a couple of minutes on my friends bike and it felt VERY promising. It's quite narrow (about as narrow as they come), but soft and has a nice hole in the middle. I almost won an auction on a new one last week that went for $33 on eBay. (DOH!)

I don't know if it helps or not but when I went to the doctor for prostatitis last year he recomended specialized body geometry saddles. It was sorta cool to go to a doctor that rides bikes. The body geomotry is not the worlds most comfortable saddle, but anything is better than having to worry about prostatitis again...........it sucks!!!!!

Try the SDG Bel Air. It came as standard on my bike and I rode for years until only recently started to wear padded shorts. You could also try adjusting your knob so it lies more along your inner thigh than tucked up under your arse. Ideally you want the saddle to support the two bones in the base of your arse - any doctors here can correct my terminolgy - rather than the soft tissue.

I read the Koobi user reviews and they are terrible.
The best ones that I have ridden are the Specialized and the WTB made ones.

it has a good shape- takes a few rides to get used to, but it becomes pretty comfy. at least for me ars anyway.
