Seatpost shim for post???Fast Freddy
Dec 13, 2002 7:17 PM
Does anyone know where to find a seatpost shim for a 26.8mm post to convert it to 27.2mm?? I have a Salsa Shaft and want to be able to re-use it in a new frame.... I've been looking around and can't find anyone who has this size shim.

Anyone help out?

Thanks
Fred

I need to convert a 26.8 post to 27.2 frame.

The TransX was for posts 25.4, 27.2, and 26.4 posts.

The USE was for 25.0 posts only.

Hurricane Components has shims for $7. One size says it converts from 27.2 to 26.8mm, but I'm sure they mean it converts a 26.8 post to 27.2mm.

Cane Creek has plenty! go to www.thudbuster.com (nm)DIRT BOY

Still none for the 26.8 post - thudbuster didn't hit that size and the other site was for 28.6 posts.

I have a 26.8mm post and need a shim to fit a 27.2mm frame.

Maybe it will be easier to buy a new post.....

AE Bikes has Thomson posts for $54.49

They also sell shims but I didn't notice your size.

Surprised no one has suggested a beer can yet...næstep

I'm not a subscriber to that technique and have never tried it, but it seems to come up once per "shim" post. Don't know if it'll make up 0.2mm all-around difference you need, but maybe worth a shot??

I've seen that listed here also... I guess the easy answer is sell my current post and just buy another... no biggy. Figured if all of us can't find one - that's what I'd do anyway.

re: Look under the "Suspension Seatposts" on CambriaFrankenbike

If you go under Cambria and look at the "Suspension Seatposts" they have what you need. The "Seat Post Reducer Shims Custom" has a 27.2 to 26.8 reducer for $30 (ouch!!!) Its not in stock yet so you'll probably need to give them a call.
try some flashingautoduel

Try Aluminum flashing from home depot.
Coke cans only shim .2mm difference, but aluminum flashing is a little thicker.
