I was roadie for 10 years and commuted on my road bike, after commuting on a hardtail and slicks, I haven't ridden my roadie.
Hardtail and slicks are better at potholes and rail road tracks.
Lots of crappy roads in my city.

Yeah, a hardtail is the best option for commuting. I added the extra barends in the centre of the bars to get a tribar position which is great when I am in a hurry.
Having all the lights and not having to remove them everytime I go out on my road bike is handy to.
Guess that is why the badboy sells so well.
