| Gary fisher Sugar 3 - suspention pivotes - help ! | nooooBobing Dec 15, 2002 7:49 AM | | Hey,
For all those experienced with sugar 3 full suspension or any experience for the matter-help - I got a loose frame :
After about a year of riding my Sugar 3 (about 800 miles ) I noticed that the rear suspensions travel got all "sticky" !!!! I decided it was time for some serious maintenance. I took everything apart and gave it a long warm bath of DEGREAS !!
The pivots took special attention for they were a mess so Degreased them, cleaned them and put the Machine back together. When I came to that I couldnt get the central pivot ( lower one ) to run smooth (reasonably smooth) without it being loose no matter how fine tuned the central pivots screw is. Its either too loose or it runs to rough along the suspension movement. My mechanics are helpless for this job ( they just tighten things up until it seems ok when it not !! )
I am a very sad person since then....
could it be the frame is designed to run rough( so rough !!) ?? is the frame dead ??!!!!
What should I do? Please any Ideas ? |
| should have replaced the bushings... | Bud M. Dec 15, 2002 9:18 AM | | Every Sugar I've worked on needed new bushings after a year or so and some even more often. They are cheap, easy to install, and worth the effort. I will say that typically Sugars are not particularly plush because with proper fitting bushings it's about impossible to get the swing arm to move really freely -- that's probably one reason the racers like them. |
| got it !!! the bushings !! ... thanks !! i guess.. | nooobobing Dec 16, 2002 1:21 AM | | i guess its not the briliant geometry that prevents boobing ...! |
